Meridian hosts a variety of festivals and community activities to celebrate the city’s culture and history. These include the Scarecrow Festival, Meridian Dairy Days, and the January Chili Cook-off. Dairy Days commemorates Meridian’s former dominance in the Idaho diary industry with a cattle show, carnival and arts festival. During the Scarecrow Festivals, scarecrows crop up all over town, and children can explore a maze created out of hay.
The climate of Meridian allows residents to enjoy the outdoors throughout much of the year. While each of the four seasons places a different cast on the scenery, the temperatures are not extreme. Summer highs reach the low 90s, while winter temperatures can drop to the low 20s. Annual rainfall averages about 14 inches per year, and snowfalls are common November through March.
